it’s hard being a rescue dog.  you have to be on.  all the time you have to be on.

you’re at an event and it’s game day.    but there are other dogs and so many people. music is playing and vendors are schmoozing.

but you don’t have to be perfect.  you just have to be yourself and when the right family arrives they will recognize you as family.  see that you are what they need.  they might need mellow. they might need perky.  they might need soft ears and a bright pair of eyes.  a short coat…or a fluffy coat.  young…or seasoned.

yoda was nervous.   the stress tired him out.  he had a dedicated volunteer who kept him calm and introduced him to families.  ultimately he wound up with two kids and a mom and a dad.  a dad who couldn’t stop rubbing his ears while the paperwork was being finished.

meet the 100th pet adopted from the hssaz’s new adoption center at park mall.  she was adopted this afternoon at the grand opening ceremony.

her new family has not  decided on her new name yet, but it will definitely start with a “P”, matching all the  “P” names in the pack already.

The grand opening celebration was a nice event:  good music, friendly vendors, snacks and super cute animals.

anyway….we met so many nice people and so many cool pets! some great cats and kittens, mutts and even some pure breed dogs!  please visit the shop at park mall or the shelter on kelvin to find your new family member!

you don’t see many of them in tucson, but there are some.  they’re swiss.  other swiss dogs are the st. bernard, greater swiss mountain dog, entelbucher sennenhund, and appenzeller sennenhund.  they all have some nice white, black and rust. and they’re very soft!

woofers….are actually also “workers on organic farms”.  http://www.wwoof.org/  volunteers that travel all over the world for the opportunity to work on organic farms.  my friends own an organic farm near amado, arizona.  (forever yong farm) they have visitors come throughout the year to help them with their awesome garlic and veggies.

“what does this have to do with dogs?” you ask?  well woofer…the dog….lives next to that organic farm.   he has a great pond in the country and lots of land for romping!

there was a huge akc show complete with agility trials, rally and obedience.   there was a large vendor area where i found this mobile store set up.

these three little dogs were modeling vests and showcasing some very fine toys.

the jack russell made me a little nervous because he actually fell off once.  he kept trying to step off the rack of toys.

dogs from all over the country visited tucson this weekend for the akc dog show and agility trials at pima county fairgrounds.  the place was just packed with show dogs.  among the smiliest, the golden retrievers!

hello everyone!  i hope your weekend is off to a great start!

i think the cool weather is finally here! cool…not quite cold.  i just found out yesterday that my bedroom heater has a carbon monoxide leak.  that’s ok, as i was going to try to go as long as possible without using the gas heat anyway.

why?  i was going to rely on dog warmth!  some people don’t like dogs sleepin’ on the bed.  that’s cool, whatever.  but it could take  a couple weeks to get a new heater installed, so fortunately i have two heating units.

speaking of heating units, that dog above is bailey.  a real snuggler.  i think golden retrievers make excellent heating units, and there is NO danger of them leaking carbon monoxide. . . .
