a medical moment with cody bear

it’s been busy here.  i’ve been going and going.  it takes cody bear getting an eye injury for the breaks to come on and we all get some much needed rest.

i let the dogs out yesterday morning for one final peepers break before leaving for work.  it had been a normal morning so far, but when i let the dogs back in cody bear pawed his eye a couple times.  there was a little tearing under his right eye.  he looked up at me and wagged.  i kissed him good bye then kissed pickles good bye and it was off to work.

that was 7:30 am.  when i got home at 11:45 am i opened the front door and found cody bear standing there expectantly, right eye totally swollen shut and wet.

called our vet. they could fit us in at two.  the only way to keep him from pawing his eye was to cuddle him on the bed to kill time before our vet appointment.  i watched netflix on my lap top while cuddling him as he slept.

diagnosis:  cactus spines in third eyelid and a badly scratched cornea.  poor guy.

when we got home he was really struggling with the cone head navigation.  and he wouldn’t sit still if i was moving.  so i popped him up on the bed again and he fell right asleep.  i just laid there talking on the phone with friends while his paws twitched in a bad dream.  we walked rested walked rested all night.

it’s better today, but not doing as well as i thought it would be.  the dr. said he’d be doing much better in a couple hours.

time to feed the dogs and take them for a walk.  that’s the bear’s only cone free time.

Mom and Dad also live in Tuscon and it’s bi-monthly event when one of the two dogs falls into cactus; or bees.
