today’s dog is chloe. chloe is a story. a story with a sad beginning but a happy ending.
the beginning: chloe was a bait dog. do you know what they are? they are pretty much….bait…. bait for fighting dogs that are learning to kill. here is WIKIPEDIA’s definition : “Bait” animals are used to test a dog’s fighting instinct, and these animals are often mauled or killed in the process. Trainers obtain bait animals from several sources: wild or feral animals, animals obtained from a shelter, or in some cases, stolen pets.[11] Sometimes the animals are also obtained through “free to a good home” ads.[12] According to news reports compiled by the National Humane Society, the snouts of bait dogs are wrapped with duct tape to prevent them from injuring dogs being trained for fighting. Other animals, such as cats and rabbits are also reported to be used as bait animals. Experts have said small dogs, kittens, and rabbits are more at risk of being stolen for bait than larger animals.
so….you can imagine how horrible chloe’s beginnings were, as well as how terrified and untrusting she must have been.
but, she was rescued. she was adopted. she was loved.
her mom has worked so hard with a local trainer and today chloe is loving and trusting and playful.
today she popped out of the car and acted quite fearful when she first saw me, but, because of all the work her mom has done with her, she was able to overcome her fear. her mom made her feel confident and let her know that today would be fun. as a result we have some shots of her standing tall, acting playful and being affectionate.
i’m so glad she found love to replace violence, that she is now cherished instead of exploited, comfortable instead of fearful, and that she now has a life of value and trust.
happy valentine’s day everyone. my valentine’s day wish is that you find someone or some cause to elevate and support.

Congratulations to Chloe and her mom. They’ve worked hard. And that photo shows that Chloe knows where she belongs. (And the fuzzy tennis ball in the corner is so not her past life!)
Thank you, G, what a great post — informative for those who don’t know and a feel good story about this girl!
I’m grateful to hear about this since I have a small dog…unfortunate but necessary information to get out. Thank you.
Great story George. And, I know the “mom”. Chloe couldn’t be in a better place. Their bond will not be broken and it’s definitely an unconditional love between the two of them.
Through it all, it’s wonderful to know that goodness still prevails. Gentleness, kindness and love…And you take it from words to pictures. Thanks Mz G
As Chloe’s “grandpa” I’ve seen the transformation first hand. Her mom has done a wonderful job and Chloe is a delight!
I also know Chloe and her Mom, I have great admiration for her Mom;s kindness and patience Chole is a brave girl who has come a long was. Wonderful outcome and awesome shot. George once again captured a sweet spirit. Thanks George
