the above dog, obi, can’t keep his eyes off his mom. yes, he really wants a bite of bagel, but even more he wants to be close to his mom who isn’t feeling very well lately.
does your dog know when you’re not feeling well?

When my St. Bernard Moose was only 2 or 3, I had a horrible case of the stomach flu. For the first time ever (before or since), as I was laying on the couch suffering, he jumped not just on the couch but on ME and laid right on my chest and stomach, which of course I did not need. I never understood his behavior until I watched an ep of “Breed all about it” where they said it’s instinctive for Saints to lay on someone who doesn’t feel well. Part of their alpine snow rescue instincts? I spoke with a lady who ran the Saint rescue and she said it’s common. One lady had back surgery and her Saint sensed she didn’t feel good so the dog pulled the same maneuver and the lady had to call the fire department to get her own dog off her because he thought he was helping.
The Vs love it when somebody is sick, because then they can sit on that person’s lap ALL. DAY. LONG.
