so…yeah, …my border collie, pickles…she’s 14 months old now.
she’s willful.
she’s stubborn.
she’s sassy.
she’s pushing to see how far she can go. well, miss pickles….you’re grounded!
seriously! she has been such a pill. and moments after being stubborn/sassy/mouthy/bad….she looks at you like, “what? what’d i do? i’m pickles…i’m a good gal!”
just look at her picture: “i didn’t do anyyything….!”
fortunately we have an arsenal of dog training experience, especially from our friend d. we’re hanging steady…but pickles?
well…she’s acting like she’s been insulted. she’s cute and 95% of the time she’s an angel. but that other 5%….she’s like a teenage girl with bad friends and a chemical imbalance…
i’m just sayin’….

Do dogs go through stages like babies where they are developing an identity and testing boundries to see how far they can go? Does she want to be the alpha?
yes, they definitely do. and border collies have some really stubborn stages, too.
i think dogs are a lot like babies…’cept for the part where i actually want dogs.
When she was good she was very very good, but when she was bad …
Yeah, when she was bad…she was awesome. Just being a BC, mom..can’t help it. 5% ain’t bad-eh?
Without the bad we couldn’t appreciate the good.
Smart dogs tend to sometimes have a mind of their own.
