daily dog – chocolate hound dog…

hello, …from calvin.

calvin is a chocolate lab mix.  we were chatting about it today, and we definitely think the “mix” part is….hound dog!

calvin is a volunteer for the humane society.  today he was the “neutral dog” for our pet therapy recertification testing.    we couldn’t have done it without you calvin!

  1. Yeah–look at that snout!

What does a neutral dog do? He looks like a total sweetie.

  2. Stilllife,
Thank you for your kind comments. As Cal’s mommy, it makes me proud to know that others can see his kind and loving nature.
A “neutral” dog, in this instance, is a dog that does not react to other dogs or stimulus in his environment in an excited or aggressive manner, i.e. no barking, lunging, pulling on the leash, etc. Cal was asked to walk by each dog that was testing for recertification so that the evaluator would be able to see if the test dogs reacted to Cal. Needless to say, it is very important that the neutral dog does not initiate any excitement or aggression with the testing dogs and remains calm, which Cal does very well. We both enjoy our volunteer duties at the Humane Society quite a lot.
    Thank you for your question.

  3. What a precious being!
    A love bucket!

  4. Calvin is adorable! What soulful eyes .. The stories he could tell.
